Assisted Living, Independent Living or Memory Care? Or care that comes home.
If you are comparing assisted living, independent living and memory care for a parent or spouse, there is another option worth weighing: concierge in-home care, delivered one-on-one by Certified Nursing Assistants under registered nurse oversight, in the home your loved one already knows.

Four paths in senior care, one question: where will they thrive?
Every family’s answer is different. Here is a plain-language look at how in-home care compares with assisted living, independent living and memory care communities, so you can choose with confidence.

Signs home care is the right fit
Home care tends to work best when your loved one is happiest at home, and the main need is help with daily routines, safety and someone who notices changes early.
They want to stay home
Familiar rooms, neighbors, pets and routines matter, especially for someone living with memory loss.
Needs are personal
Help bathing, dressing, moving safely or remembering medications, given by the same trusted caregivers.
A recent hospital stay
Recovery goes better at home with a CNA who tracks changes and keeps the family and RN informed the same day.
And when a community truly is the better fit, for example when wandering cannot be made safe at home, we will tell you so honestly, and can provide a familiar caregiver as a companion through the transition.

Is in-home care an alternative to assisted living?
For many families, yes. Assisted living offers help with daily activities in a shared community setting. Premium Care provides the same kind of help, including bathing, dressing, meals, medication reminders and mobility, one-on-one in your loved one’s own home, from Certified Nursing Assistants supervised by registered nurses. Care can range from a few hours a day to 24-hour and live-in support.
What is the difference between assisted living and independent living?
Independent living communities are designed for older adults who manage their own daily care and want convenience, social activities and a maintenance-free lifestyle. Assisted living adds hands-on help with daily activities such as bathing, dressing and medications. In-home care can provide either level of support without a move: companionship and errands for someone living independently, or hands-on personal care for someone who needs more help.
Can memory care be provided at home?
Yes. Many families choose in-home memory care support before, or instead of, moving a loved one to a memory care community. Our CNAs are trained in calm, familiar routines, gentle redirection and home safety for dementia and Alzheimer’s, and a registered nurse reviews the care plan as needs change. When round-the-clock supervision is needed, we offer 24-hour and live-in care.
When is a memory care community the better choice?
A secured memory care community may be the right fit when wandering or exit-seeking cannot be managed safely at home even with 24-hour care, or when the home itself cannot be adapted. We will tell you honestly during your complimentary consultation what we see, and if a community is the right next step, we can continue to provide a familiar caregiver as a companion during the transition.
Does long-term care insurance pay for in-home care?
Many long-term care insurance policies cover non-medical in-home care as well as assisted living. Our team helps families with the claim paperwork so benefits actually get used.
