Ideal when a cruise feels like too much to manage alone, or when family wants to enjoy the trip too, rather than spend it providing care.
- Anniversary, reunion and multigenerational family cruises
- Seniors using a wheelchair, walker or scooter aboard
- Travelers living with early-stage dementia or Parkinson’s
- Widowed or solo travelers who want a trusted companion
- Alaska, Mexican Riviera, Hawaii, Caribbean, European and river cruises
Planned with you, from the start.
Share the ship and sailing dates. We match the caregiver, build an onboard care plan and coordinate the details with your family.
Cruise lines generally ask guests who need help with personal care or mobility to sail with a companion, since ship crew do not provide personal care. Your caregiver’s cruise fare and stateroom are arranged with your family in advance.

Only Certified Nursing Assistants. Always.
Every Premium Care caregiver is a Certified Nursing Assistant, certified by the California Department of Public Health, and every plan of care is overseen by a licensed Registered Nurse. Each visit is documented, and your family always knows who is coming and what happened.
Trained hands
Skilled in safe transfers with gait belts, fall prevention and recognizing changes in condition.
Verified & insured
Background-checked, insured and covered by our workers’ compensation for every outing.
Licensed & local
Licensed California Home Care Organization, family-owned, never a franchise.
Personalized care, thoughtfully arranged. Every family begins with a complimentary consultation. We listen to what has been happening, walk the home for fall risks, and build a plan around the problems your family is facing right now.
Cruise caregivers, answered.
Can a caregiver go on a cruise with my parent?
Yes. A Premium Care Certified Nursing Assistant sails as your loved one’s cruise companion, usually sharing or staying in an adjoining stateroom, and provides personal care and mobility support throughout the voyage.
Do cruise lines require a companion for seniors who need assistance?
Most cruise lines ask guests who need help with personal care, mobility or medications to travel with someone who can assist them, because ship crew do not provide that care. A cruise caregiver fills that role.
Which ports do your caregivers sail from?
Most of our families sail from the Port of Long Beach, the Port of Los Angeles in San Pedro or San Diego. Our caregivers can also fly with your loved one to departures around the world.
Can you help with wheelchairs and accessible staterooms?
Yes. We coordinate wheelchair assistance at the terminal and aboard, and help your family plan for an accessible stateroom when booking.
Is a cruise caregiver a nurse?
Our cruise caregivers are Certified Nursing Assistants, certified by the California Department of Public Health and supervised by a Registered Nurse. They provide non-medical personal care; the ship’s medical center handles medical treatment aboard.
How far in advance should we book a cruise caregiver?
As soon as your sailing is booked, ideally six weeks or more ahead, so your caregiver can be added to the reservation.
